畫家古銑賢 中西繪畫工寫兼蓄,祟尚傳統,力求創新,不拘泥師承,自闢蹊徑, 畫風清新深厚,多有獨到之處,頗獲好評。早期作品曾入選日本國際 學生美展、國際婦女協會舉辦大專院校比賽優等獎、獲文藝競賽金像 獎和金環獎。70年代起多次參加國內外重要展出。曾參與數項大型史 畫繪製,作品獲國立歷史博物館及各公、私機構收藏,出版有「山村 風雲」畫集,平時除潛心藝術創作外,亦熱心於促進中美文化藝術交 流,現為舊金山中華藝術學會理事長。 

自70年代起,即多次參加國、內外大型展出,畫風清新深厚,手法多樣,工寫兼長的旅美畫家古銑賢, 在从師学畫同時即不拘泥師承而另闢蹊徑,在寫實造型與寫意創造中,以傳統的絵畫手法不断追求新素 材,新技巧,新覌念,藉着彩筆將東方特有的人文思想,揉合中西的意境,呈現他独特的绘畫語言,他 的畫也因此而兼具文学与芸术的氣息,丰富了創作的畫面,表現了多樣而淋漓尽致的可讀性。 此次展 出將近 50幅的作品中再展新貌,他以深厚的㝍生基础,演化到水墨上,靈思独闢,浑厚华滋,有西畫的 眞实感,又保留了国畫原有的韻味,不論是中華風土情怀或美国的奇山勝水,他的傾向和審美情趣,从 不同的角度和不同的層面去領悟芸术的真蹄,並且追求塑造渾然和諧的整体性,將大自然賦予生命的強 韌力,作為他未來的創作理念和使命。 

Mr. Arthur Ku, born in Meixian, Guangd ong province, graduated from the art department of Fu-Hsing-Kang College. His expertise is in ink painting, watercolors and oil painting. As a student in Taiwan, he participated in various art competitions and exhibitions including the Ja- pan International Award for Excellence in Student Art Watercolor Exhibition and the National Army Art Competition for comics in the 10th and 11th divisions, for which he won an award. Other notable awards for Arthur’s work include the Golden Circle Award which featured sever- al major paintings. 

Arthur’s skills are wide-ranging, as demonstrated by his illustrations featured in several news- papers and magazines. In addition, he has published a comic book named “The Heroic Story of the Mountain and Forest”; and has participated in several projects involving historical pictures. In the 1970’s, Arthur participated in prominent art exhibitions which brought his fresh style, complemented by his deep, meticulous and diverse methods, to the attention and admiration of audiences in Taiwan and abroad. One of his oil paintings has been collected by the National Taiwan Art Museum in Taipei. 

In addition to devoting himself to the arts, Arthur Ku currently serves as the president of the Chinese Art Association of San Francisco promoting Sino-US cultural relationships and ex- changes. He is also an active member of the Chinese Art Council as well as the National Comic Society.
